About Me

In praise of creativity...

Once, a new client started sending me jobs with some written instructions on her memo pad. Then, I realized that she was spelling my name quite wrong. All the time. And yet, I didn't mention anything to her to correct this funny mistake, because, to be honest, I kind of liked the way she wrote my name. Instead of putting "Guniz" as in the correct spelling, she was constantly writing my name as "Goonies", over and over again. And then I thought...wait a minute...my name really sounds like Goonies...Like the feature film based on Spielberg's child's-dream-come-true story about a band of adventurous kids...As a matter of fact, I always thought that the inner child in me had and always will in power over my view of the world and what's happening around me. And when I was brainstorming about the name of this blog (and before that the company name), I thought if finding the essence and truth of brands and creatively expressing it is exactly what I love to do, then what better name than "GrownUp Kids" would do it, that is, reminding the playful inner child in each and every one of us...So here we are...The GrownUp Kids...Our philosophy is to embrace and bring back childlike qualities to our business practice such as open-mindedness, questioning, dreaming, simplicity, playfulness, imagination, laughing, spontaneity, ability to enjoy simple pleasures and sense of wonder. We love to ask "why?" and "why not?". Because we believe that these are the key questions which usher us to the mysterious and wondrous world of creativity. Here, we would like to share with you the things that we think are creative, things that give us excitement, things that make us think and enjoy our life in this small planet called Earth. Whether it be music, films, books, a fine restaurant, a cooking recipe or some exercise that's good for our health. Hope you enjoy it and always remember to ask yourself "why not?"...

Love and Peace,

Guniz Engur
